Helping ESPN reach its digital audience

The Brief

Launch ESPN in the UK and drive users to sign up for subscriptions, while also providing channel schedule information and details of other ESPN sites.

The Solution

A highly accessible ESPN marketing site with an initial design focus on football and their slogan 'It's great to be here' as a result of ESPN's recent acquisition of a number of live Premiership games. The user journey was designed to achieve a high level of sign ups.

The pan-European marketing site evolved to become the main ESPN Channel site that also provided programme information on all sports.

This was then followed up by two pan-European marketing sites for their other channels ESPN Classic and ESPN America as ESPN further expanded across Europe.

The Results

Since ESPN launched in the UK, the site has had 1.6 million page views, 600,000 visits and 500,000 unique visitors. The most remarkable statistic though is that 43% of site visitors have gone on to a partner's subscribe page.
