Best of, with Bianca #4

Hello, and welcome to 2012. It’s almost the end of January, it’s not (that) cold outside, and pay day is really, really soon. Hoorah!

1. “I see you baby…”

January is a bit rubbish. It’s post party season and everyone is all ‘No thanks, I am not drinking’ or ‘Nah, I’m on a diet’.

January is hard enough without all this nonsense. Enter Nike Fuel. The wristband that counts everything. And although the technology and idea are not the first of their kind, this promotional video does a very good job. It even convinced me that moving looks like a lot of fun.

Nike has always been very at good at communicating and selling the ‘Nike mindset’, not just trainers. Which is where competitors such as Jawbone’s UP bracelet might have missed a trick. In my opinion they completely forgot about the fact that not everyone will want to wear smart bracelets – their product, no matter how forward thinking, will require an element of culture change. Nike has nailed this, not focusing so much on the bracelet, but on the fact that ‘everything counts’.

2. The future of… Windows.

Samsung unveiled its Smart Window at CES earlier this week. It’s pretty much identical to what Marty McFly walks in to when he’s stuck in the future. It’s bloody brilliant. Although we’re not entirely convinced how this will look from the outside.

3. Nice Buns.

Wimpy in South Africa wanted to promote their good ethics and niceness. To do this they made an understandably small batch of burger buns on to which they added descriptions of the burger printed in Braille with sesame seeds. Of course the only problem is they forgot their target audience by making the video entirely text-based. Oops!

And finally, I leave you with Cat GIFs.

Have a lovely weekend,
Bianca
